Staying In Compliance
Is your system in compliance?
Requirements To Have A Licensed Operator on Record
Most public water systems are legally required to have a licensed/certified operator to operate the system. You may also be required to submit paperwork designating an operator in direct responsible charge of your water
system. Contact state agency to learn what level of licensure or certification is required for an operator working at your public water system and ask how to designate an operator in direct responsible charge of your system.

CA Requires Meter Installation by January, 2025
In 2004 AB 2572 was passed requiring urban water systems to install meters in an effort to conserve water. This bill does not apply to a community water system which serves less than 15 service connections used by yearlong residents or regularly serves less than 25 yearlong residents, or a single well which services the water supply of a single-family residential home. The full text of the bill can be found in the link below. We are here to help your system stay in compliance with these changes.
Drought Planning for Small Water Suppliers & Rural Communities (SB552)
Under Senate Bill 552 (SB 552), passed and signed by Governor Gavin Newsom in September 2021, State and local governments will share the responsibility in preparing and acting in the case of a water shortage event. These new requirements are expected to improve the ability of Californians to manage future droughts and help prevent catastrophic impacts on drinking water for communities vulnerable to impacts of climate change. The bill outlines the new requirements for small water suppliers, county governments, DWR, and the State Water Board to implement more proactive drought planning and be better prepared for future water shortage events or dry years.
